                                                                                        Character Analysis of Sarai

Sometimes when we hear about a character from the Bible, we often think that they are a different kind of people with magical powers. Sarai is a woman who was married to Abraham who was the son of Terah. Both characters are biblical since they are found in the Bible. As I read Genesis 12 12:24 I noticed that Sarai is a normal woman with normal feelings. To begin with, in Genesis 18:6 it says, “And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it and make cakes upon the hearth.” This demonstrates that Sarai cooks, meaning that she does chores. This it also shows that she is obedient and follows orders. Another important attribute that Sarai has that shows that she is a regular woman is that she suffers and makes sacrifices. Genesis 16:1 says, “And Sarai said unto Abram, behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her…” This demonstrates that it hurts her that she cannot have a child and it also demonstrates that Sarai is willing to let another woman be with her husband to get that child. This evidence also shows that Sarai had good interactions with others and was comprehensive. To conclude, I think that Sarai has trust issues and lacks confidence. In Genesis 18:12, it says “Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, after I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”. This demonstrates that even a biblical character fears certain situations. Also, she doesn’t believe that she will be blessed with a child.
