Lady Macbeth
This week reading was very interesting. We had to read act one in the book Macbeth by Shakespear. In this act almost all the characters were introduced to the audience. Some of these characters are good, like kind Duncan, others are in between like Macbeth, and others are monsters like Lady Macbeth. A monster is someone mean, scary and dangerous. Lady Macbeth fits perfectly into my definition of a monster because she is mean, evil and dangerous to the society. Macbeth is mean and evil because she is the one who put pressure on Macbeth so he can kill king Duncan even if he does not want to. In page 159, line 60, Lady Macbeth says, “O never shall sun that morrow see.” Lady Macbeth telling his husband to get ready because King Duncan will be in their house tonight and Macbeth needs to take advantage of that opportunity and kill him. She says that King Duncan will not leave and will not see the sun again because Macbeth will kill him. This shows that she is the one putting pressure on him to do it which makes her and evil person. Also, in page 160, in lines 74, Lady Macbeth says, “Leave the rest to me” This shows that she is going to take care of everything after Macbeth kills Duncan. Lady Macbeth capable of doing anything and she is for sure stronger than Macbeth. If Lady Macbeth will not encourage Macbeth to kill Duncan, he will not do it. This shows that the real monster is Lady Macbeth, because Macbeth does want to be the king, but he doesn’t have the agency to do it. I feel like Lady Macbeth definitely has the agency to kill someone, therefore she should kill the king and not encourage Macbeth to do it for her.
