Rig Veda: Creation

Reading Journal
The first reading for this class was very excited. Rig Veda Creation is a hymn related to gods and the universe. In this reading, we have a narrator explaining the beginning of the universe. This reading is very complicated because the speaker tone is not firm. He asks the reader questions giving us a sense that he is not sure of what he is talking about. In my opinion the speaker is a regular person questioning himself how the universe was created like everyone has. In the reading it says, “Who really knows? Who will here proclaim it? Whence was it produced?” This demonstrate that not even the narrator understands the creation of the universe, and he is just guessing. According to the narrator, the universe was created by the gods. At the beginning of the universe, everything was pure and innocent.
